See our Knowledgebase FAQ's for VPN profile name and a profile connection file with the extension “pcf” .

Faculty, Staff and OPS:

  • Discuss the VPN access with your IT Manager
  • You must have an active FSUID, password and e-mail to sign into the VPN
  • FSU Staff automatically has access to the VPN appliance at http://vpn.fsu.edu
  • Determine if your Department needs a unique Profile in order to access specific Departmental resources. (ask your IT Manager)
  • If you have problems accessing or authenticating, notify your Departmental IT Manager. These issues might be about permissions, polices, rights, firewalls or department access control list (ACL).
  • Contact the Help Desk at help@fsu.edu (generates a ticket). Please cc your IT Manager.
  • IT staff or Core Network provides the Profile at the request of the department:
    1. Do not change the name of the profile file given to you it is case sensitive
    2. Enter in browser  http://vpn.fsu.edu (if you have already installed the 'AnyConnect' software skip to step 5)
    3. Enter FSUID and Password
    4. Select to install the AnyConnect  client
    5. The VPN file provided to you by Core networking or IT staff must be saved to your computer at My Computer > C:\ drive >Program Files folder >Cisco Systems folder >VPN Client folder. You should already have a Profile folder (if not, create one making sure the P in Profile is capitalized)>Click to open. Save your new Profile file into the Profile folder.
    6. Reboot your computer
    7. Enter http://vpn.fsu.edu/Profilenameinto browser
    8. Sign into the VPN
    9. Enter FSUID and Password
    10. You are now using your profile name which gives you special permission to access your network resources at work or remotely from home or on the road.
  • You are encouraged to install the VPN software to have more functionality in your connection i.e., accessing your department computer from the road, or the ability to map network drives from your home computer and so on.
  • Report problems to your IT Manager so that they may have knowledge of the problems
  • Report problems by e-mail to help@otc.fsu.edu (generates a ticket) or by calling 850-644-HELP (4357).
Helpful Hint: If you forget your profile name, look in the Cisco VPN Profile Folder (see #5 above)
