OUTLOOK 2000 - ADMIN

You will need to have your Windows Office 2000 CD!!!!

  1. Right-click your Outlook icon and select Properties.
    An alternate method if the Outlook icon is missing: Go to Start, then Settings and then Control Panel. Double-click the icon called Mail.




  2. (If you have multiple people using Outlook to check mail, you will first need to click on Show Profiles. Create a new profile for each user, using their name to identify the profile. You will then be able to run through the properties of each profile as follows.)

    Click on Add, then Microsoft Exchange Server. Click OK.




  3. In the new window, choose the tab called Advanced. Near the bottom is a drop-down menu called Logon Network Security. You need to change this to none.




  4. Click back on the General tab. For the Microsoft Exchange Server, type fsu-dc-01.fsu.edu and then type your username under mailbox. (This is everything before the @ symbol in your admin e-mail address.) Then click the button called Check Name.




  5. When you click Check Name, your username should convert into your full name. If it does not, please call us at (850) 644-HELP (4357). If it does convert to your name, click Apply and then OK. This will then take you back to the main MS Exchange Settings Properties. Once again click on Add. This time, from the list, select Microsoft LDAP Directory.




  6. This will open a new window. You will need to change some of the information to that as follows:




  7. Click Apply and then OK. This will then take you back to the main MS Exchange Settings Properties. Once again click on Add. This time, from the list, select Outlook Address Book and click OK. One last time click on Add, and choose Personal Folders.




  8. Click Add again, and choose Personal Address Book. Here type your name and Personal Address Book. (Below we used just “My Personal...”.)




  9. There will be a path. Do not alter this. Click Apply and OK. Click Add again, and choose Personal Folders. Click OK. Type your username.pst for the file name and click Open.




  10. On the next window, type your name before Personal Folders. Here we used “My Personal...”




  11. Click OK. Your MS Exchange Settings Properties should now look like this. (Remember "My Personal Address Book" should be replaced with your name.)




  12. Click OK and you should be ready to open Outlook and start checking your mail.
