University Computing Services (UCS) announces myWebDAV for the purpose of creating personal web sites. Users will get a myWebDAV account. As a result, UCS will no longer be accepting requests for new shell accounts. Users who have an existing site on garnet or mailer are encouraged to move to "myweb.fsu.edu". Please see WebDAV for more information. Using SSH Secure File Transfer SSH Secure Shell client is a telnet-like program. If you wish to transfer files into your Garnet or Mailer account, you will need to use this program. You can also use this program to transfer files to your personal web site on the Garnet or Mailer server if you are NOT using the myweb.fsu.edu WebDAV facility for your web site. The FSU community can get the free ssh client here (to download ssh, you must have an FSU IP address). Please Note: You may need to request shell access before you can access your account through SSH. If you find you can connect momentarily and then it disconnects - you may request shell access by emailing help@otc.fsu.edu. Go to START-> PROGRAMS
Click Connect. You will need to type in your password.
The window on your left represents your computer (LOCAL). The window on the right represents the remote server (REMOTE) files under your account. You will need to locate your file on the left side, then drag and drop the file in the appropriate folder on the right side. SETTING PERMISSIONS. If you find that you have transferred files and they are still not viewable, you may need to set the permissions. You will do this by right clicking on the FILE ->go to PROPERTIES. Simply type 755 in the permission mode. Click ok. Once you are done with uploading files, go to FILE then DISCONNECT. Then go to FILE->EXIT. Connecting to Remote Servers with SSH Secure Shell SSH Secure Shell Client is an encrypted telnet-like program that if configured correctly can be used easily by anyone.
